Moore Holds On As Cheer, Softball, & Volleyball End – Presented by Eskridge Honda

As several Fall sports close out their seasons, the Moore Lions are holding a nice lead over their cousins at Westmoore and Southmoore.

Since the start of the school year area Moore schools have battled in head-to-head competition to determine who will win the Moore War Cup at the end of the school year.

Moore High School continued their dominance in softball and volleyball, while Westmoore was able to gain some ground and pick up wins over Southmoore.

CHEER

The competition at state cheer is always fierce. Teams in Class 6A are some of the best squads in the country. Moore finished 3rd behind the winner, Owasso, and state runner-up Mustang. Moore scored 275.8, just a few points from Mustang’s runner-up sore of 277.6. Westmoore finished the competition 10th overall and Southmoore was 12th overall. It was a great competition for the Moore schools in what was one of the closest competitions in recent history.

SOFTBALL

District and regional tournaments hosted games between the Moore Public Schools this season. Moore was unstoppable on their way to the state tournament beating Westmoore in back-to-back days, 9-3 and 12-0. Moore would finish their season in the semifinals against No.1 Owasso. Westmoore did pick up two wins over Southmoore in the regional tournament, but it wasn’t enough to make the big show.

VOLLEYBALL

Two MPS teams made it to the state tournament this season. Unfortunately, they faced off in the first round of the tournament. Moore entered the tournament ranked No. 1 in Class 6A with Westmoore ranked No. 8. Moore would pick up the victory, 3-1 but stumbled against No. 5 Edmond Memorial who would go on to win the state title over their own rival Edmond North.

HEAD-TO-HEAD STANDINGS

In the race for the Moore War Cup, the Moore Lions are out front, but the gym is heating up as basketball and wrestling get underway. And let’s not forget those competing in the pool!

Moore 12-1

Westmoore 5-8

Southmoore 3-7
