As head coach Robert Washington enters the 2025-26 season, his biggest challenge could be the average age of his starting lineup. However, coach Washington has been here before, and he know how to get the young guys motivated and prepared for the long season.
“We are a young team with a lot to prove throughout the season. Team goals are to hold each other accountable and grow fast,” coach Washington said.
Liam Taylor comes into the season with big expectations after barely missing the state tournament last season. Coach Washington said Taylor, “won lots of matches,” and is one of the hardest workers on the team.
Newcomer Slaydon Williams is only a freshman, but he has shown lots of potential early in the season and feels he has more to prove. Also look for guys like Jacob Rodriguez, a dependable, coachable wrestler who continues to work new moves and be physically ready for his matches.
Indications are, this team could have some growing pains, but there are several diamonds in the rough that coach Washington will refine as the state tournament inches closer and closer.
