Norman Area Players to Watch – Baseball through Track – Presented by Premier Healthcare

Baseball

Preston Baublit – Norman

Preston is speedy, super athletic, and the ideal leadoff hitter. Preston can hit for average, play small ball, and hit the ball out of the yard. He has been blessed with a lot of athletic talent and also works hard outside of practice to get batter. This offseason he has worked to improve on parts of his game he noticed as a sophomore he could do better. This kid can play and just needs to believe in his ability and the work he has put in.

Golf

Charlie Dowell – Moore Boys

He has separated himself as the team’s best and most consistent golfer. He placed or finished top five or top ten in most tournaments last season. Finished fourth at Regionals last year with a two-under 70 at Bailey Ranch. Finished fifth in the Fall tournament at Earlywine North this year.

Ava Fritts – Moore Girls

Ava is one of two seniors on the team. She has been to state every year. Her claim to fame is she made a hole in one on her first swing of the state tournament her freshmen year.

Track

Rielyn Scheffe – Washington Girls

Rielyn won four state medals last year and has been a state medal winner every year in track for the past three years. She competes in the 4×800, 4×200, 4×400, and 300H events.

Chason Brassfield – Westmoore Boys

Chason is a very sacrificial teammate and athlete. His first thought is always team and others first, putting himself second naturally. He models winning choices by always being present, attentive to others and coaches, leads at all times, and outworks his competitors day in and day out. The coaching staff looks to him to lead the team in most components of practices and meet day routines. He is going to be a valuable member of this year’s team.
