OUTLOOK
The Timberwolves will feature a mix of young talent and upper-class guidance this fall. If you ask anybody on Stubbeman Avenue, they’ll take their team against anybody. “Norman North volleyball has a great deal of young talent this year that pairs perfectly with the experience of our junior and seniors,” said head coach Nikki Clay. “The youthful vigor combined with seasoned wisdom should make for an exciting season!” Avery Hamilton (So.), daughter of former Norman North girls basketball coach and state finalist Rory Hamilton, will be among the team’s most influential returning players and will contribute everywhere there’s hardwood beneath her. “Avery is a fierce six-rotation player — the swiss army knife of Norman North volleyball,” Clay said. “When she’s playing back row, she has the ability to set from anywhere on the court. On the front row, Avery is a weapon with her high reach and explosive swing.” Andey Bryan (Sr.) gives the T-Wolves life. She generates energy in the locker room, on the floor and beyond. “Andey is the epitome of a team player,” Clay said. “She’ll do whatever is asked of her without question. Whether it’s hitting, blocking, defense of being a hype man for the team, Andey does it all.” Jane Cheong (Sr.) is an exemplary student-athlete and defines what it means to be a Norman North T-Wolf. “Jane is not only a stellar athlete, but is a shining example of what it means to be a person of great character,”Clay said. “She embodies the values of sportsmanship, teamwork and integrity that define our team.” The Timberwolves’ schedule is no joke this year; They’ll need to bring their A-Game starting with a home-opener with Mustang on Aug. 13 followed by the Norman High Tournament across town Aug. 16-17. Their path to success will run through the Choctaw Tournament (Aug. 23-24), Jenks Tournament (Aug. 24), Edmond Santa Fe Tournament (Sept. 6-7), COAC Tournament in Yukon and Piedmont (Sept. 14) and the Stillwater Tournament (Sept. 20-21). Excluding tournaments, the Timberwolves will play eight teams that were ranked within the Top 10 in 6A last year.
