A two-sport student-athlete at Norman North High School, Kenzie Clouse is currently in soccer season, which follows her basketball season through the winter months. Clouse said she loves being a student at NNHS and competing for the Timberwolves.
“I’m a dual-sport athlete, so I think my biggest challenge was the time commitment from each. I’m very blessed to have supportive coaches who allowed me to play both,” Clouse said. “The community at Norman North is what makes it the best place for student-athletes. Everyone is so supportive of every sport and there is always information about when and where games are so students can come support. The support from my coaches and parents means everything to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. They have been there for me through my highs and lows and I appreciate them more than they will ever know.”
In only her junior year, Clouse is looking forward to being a senior and what comes with her last year of high school. Clouse is the goalkeeper for the soccer team where it takes more than just good hands to be effective in goal.
“I feel like my strongest skill set is my communication and confidence with the ball at my feet. I think I have improved the most this off season in my distribution,” Clouse said. “Before every game I prepare myself in a couple different ways. I listen to music, pray, use positive self-talk, and do the same game day routine every time. One of my superstitions I have to do before every game is to give a fist bump and say, “let’s go!” to every defender on my back line.”
Clouse loves her teammates and what they bring each and every game.
“The thing I love most about my teammates is that we are all in this together. We know what it takes to win and are able to push each other to be the best we can be,” said Clouse.
Once her high school days come to an end, Clouse plans to attend college. “After high school I’m going to the University of Oklahoma to play soccer. I want to get a degree in business and hopefully one day own my own business like my mom. My mom is one of my biggest inspirations.”
