Norman North’s Ben Kolar

Before the Friday night lights and packed stands come the silent sacrifices—the early mornings, grueling offseason lifts, and mental resets after tough losses. For tight end Ben Kolar, that’s where the foundation is laid, and he’s been building brick by brick, day after day, with unwavering commitment.
Now a junior at Norman North, Kolar has found the ideal environment to grow. “It’s a great place to play football because of the closeness of the team and the coaches,” Kolar says. What began as a way to spend time with friends turned into something much deeper—a passion that drives him every day.
“Football has been a source of strength for me,” Kolar adds, reflecting on how the sport has shaped his resilience and focus.
“It used to be just for fun,” he explains. “Now, it’s about my future and what I have to prove.”
His approach to the game has grown more intentional, preparing his body and mind for the next level. From refining his blocking, to mentally locking in on game days, everything he does now is with a clear goal in mind: improvement, performance, and opportunity.
“I’ve worked the hardest to put on good size and gain athleticism,” he says. “I’ve prepped my body as well as I can for next season physically.”
Off the field, Kolar is a member of the National Honor Society, recognized for his academic excellence and commitment to community service. His work ethic extends beyond the field, with his efforts in the classroom reflecting both character and leadership.
His growth as a student and a player hasn’t happened without the support of many. The organization and energy of the coaching staff at Norman North have been huge contributors to the success of not only Kolar, but the entire team. “Coach Jones is very competent and orderly while keeping it fun,” Kolar notes.
Though he hasn’t decided where, Kolar says he plans to play college football. What is certain is his drive to grow, even when it’s uncomfortable. “It’s the consistent work you do every day to improve—or just bearing something painful,” Kolar says. “My mental toughness is strenuously tested every summer when we run the 40-yard dash 40 times.”
No matter the destination, Ben Kolar knows football will continue to provide opportunities for growth. “Football is always there,” according to Kolar. “There’s always something to improve on.”
Kolar’s parents play a quiet but powerful role in his development, encouraging him not only in football but in life. Their steady support pushes him to strive for excellence in every opportunity. “They have guided me to be the person and player that I am,” Kolar shares. “They always push me to be the best version of myself.”
