A lot can be said about the Purcell varsity cheer program under head coach Hailee Smith who enters her second season with the program.
Smith said the team is on the right track and working hard each and every day to improve.
“Purcell High School cheer is definitely on the path to success. We had a good season last year, but things are only going up from there. Our team went to camp and came home with loads of hardware and awards. We can’t wait to show you what we can bring to the table,” coach Smith said.
Several team members are having standing summers in preparation for the upcoming season. Kamdyn Snow is a captain and someone coach Smith believes in.
“Kamdyn Snow is much more than just a cheerleader. She is genuine, passionate, and everything a leader should be. She is a captain for our squad and is someone that anybody could look to for help. We love our Kamdyn,” coach Smith said.
Several cheerleaders are making their presence felt this season either as a vocal leader or someone who leads by example. Whitney Bruehl is one of those student-athletes that can do it all easily. Known as a hard worker and a student-athlete involved in multiple different sports/organizations, Bruehl still manages to get everything done and more. Alongside Emery Bourassa and Ashley Mantooth, the teams’ core is strong and pushing one another to be better.
Bourassa is going to be a sophomore this year. She is the kind of athlete that you can count on to get anything done. She is a team player, insanely talented, and a great person in general, while Mantooth brings kindness, selflessness, and passion to her sport and her teammates.
“She’s always positive and caring. She will do anything for anyone and go above and beyond for her teammates,” coach Smith said.
Also look for Cadee Bolton who is, by everyone’s account, an amazing athlete.
“She can do multiple positions with ease. She’s improved tremendously and is one of the athletes I have that is trustworthy and responsible in every aspect,” coach Smith said.
Overall the team is solid and continues to develop into one of the top programs in the class.
