Athlete Spotlight with Purcell’s Rigo Carrillo – Presented by MidAmerica Technology Center

Everyone has their own path to follow and for Purcell High School’s Rigo Carrillo, that path has led him to play varsity football and at attend classes at Mid America Tech.

With graduation looming, Carrillo said he loved playing football for PHS and one of his biggest accomplishments was playing defensive tackle.

“This position is all about technique and that is what I feel like I improved the most on through the season,” Carrillo said. “My biggest accomplishment would be starting on varsity.”

For Carrillo, there are many things he has enjoyed while attending PHS. From his teachers to his friends and teammates, Carrillo said PHS is a great place to be a student-athlete.

“PHS is great with school spirit, everyone loves game days and being able to play or watch under the lights on Friday nights,” said Carrillo.

As a student at Mid America Tech, Carrillo is pursuing a possible career as an Automotive Technician.

“I enjoy being around everyone in my class at MATC because everyone gets along and jokes around,” Carrillo said. “What I like most is they are helping me look for more job opportunities. My goal in life is to have money and a happy, loving family.”

Carrillo said the bond he shares with his teammates is solid, but his inspiration in life comes from someone in his family. “I love the bond that me and my teammates have and the support everyone gives,” Carrillo said. “A person that inspires me is my grandpa because he does anything for his family.”
