VYPE: What life lessons have you learned from swim and what is the best advice you have been given?
Samantha Davidson:Don’t quit! The best advice someone has given me is not to give up when things get hard.
VYPE:What first brought you to swim and what do you enjoy most about representing your school as an athlete?
SD:I first got into swimming during my junior year because we got a new coach who made swim more known to the school. My favorite part about representing MHS as an athlete is that I get to be a leader.
VYPE: What do you enjoy most about being on the swim team and what is the best memory you have made with your team?
SD: Getting to see my teammates and I get tomake friends. My favorite memory is the first team dinner after the first meet my junior year.
VYPE: What makes you passionate about your sport?
SD:I am passionate about swim because I like doing something that most people think is hard.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher and subject in school and why?
SD:My favorite teacher is Ms. VanWassenhove because she always encourages us to be ourselves and has a great teaching environment. My favorite subject is history because my grandpa and I bond over it.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
SD:My grandpa inspires me because he’s the type of person everyone looks up to.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
SD:Elena Phan has had the biggest impact because she was so supportive and genuinely loved swimming.

SD:I want to thank my dad for supporting everything I’ve done.
VYPE: What are your plans for after high school?
SD:After high school, I plan to go to the University of Oklahoma and study psychology.
