VYPE: As a senior on this year’s team, what responsibility do you have as a leader?
Shaylin Compton: To pick everyone up and have their backs and support them.
VYPE: Do you consider yourself an instinctive player?
SC: Yes, because my mom and dad always work with me, and at this point it is a natural reflex.
VYPE: How were you introduced to softball, and by whom?
SC: Softball has always been around my family. I would say it’s like a tradition.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory you’ve made playing softball?
SC: My favorite memory is when we made it to state my sophomore year and beat Mustang in the first round.
VYPE: What are your goals for this year? What are your goals after high school?
SC: My goals for this year is to make good grades and be a good role model for my teammates. After, my goal is to have a great college season and be successful in the classroom.
VYPE: What piece of advice has a coach/teacher given you that you won’t forget?
SC: “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.”
VYPE: Who inspires you?
SC: The person that inspires me is my best friend, Libby Jaques, because we play all three sports together and we both work hard and practice hard together and she always pushes me to be my best.
