Q&A with Norman’s Owen Abshure – Wrestling Spotlight – Presented by David Ritter, shelter Insurance

Norman’s Owen Abshure

VYPE: Owen, what weight are you wrestling and hard are the workouts and practice?

Owen Abshure: I’m wrestling at 215 and some days the workouts are the worst, and some are technique.

VYPE: What’s been the biggest improvement in your game coming into the new season?

OA: My biggest improvement is working with someone who is better than me and working on bottom moves.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Norman?

OA: I love how we all get along with each other and pick one another up after a bad match.

VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.

OA: My dad inspires me to be better and how he provides for our family, and how he supports me with everything I do. No matter if I do good or bad he’s telling me you have worked very hard.

VYPE: Favorite moment from any season?

OA: My favorite moment was my win at cross town clash against Norman North.

VYPE: Favorite subject in school and favorite teacher from any grade?

OA: My favorite subject is science, and my favorite teacher is Ms. Hall. She was my first grade teacher and really made art and learning fun and really cared about us.

VYPE: What other clubs or groups do you belong to at school and how do you like to spend your free time?

OA: I enjoy going to FCA. I love to build Legos and watch Star Wars.

VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and which teammate keeps everyone laughing?

OA: Oakley is the most vocal and Cruz keeps the team laughing

VYPE: What has athletics taught you that you may use later in life?

OA: Athletics has taught me to not let failures keep me low and to use my failures to succeed
