Q&A with Norman’s Rylie Hillis
VYPE: Do you play any sports other than softball?
Rylie Hillis: Yes, I also wrestle.
VYPE: What position(s) do you play?
RH: I pitch and also play infield
VYPE: What’s the first thing everybody should know about Rylie Hillis?
RH: I really love being on the field and being with my teammates.
VYPE: How old were you when you started playing softball, and who motivated you to begin your softball journey?
RH: I started playing softball at six years old and my biggest motivator was my mom.
VYPE: What do you love most about the game of softball?
RH: What I love the most is being out there and competing and having fun with my teammates.
VYPE: What have you learned about yourself through softball?
RH: I’ve learned that whatever I put my mind, I can accomplish it.
VYPE: What’s your proudest accomplishment so far?
RH: My biggest accomplishment is pitching a full game plus extra innings. I was able to overcome this with all the offseason workouts and the help of my defense.
VYPE: As you round out your sophomore year, how do you hope to finish the second half of your high school softball career?
RH: As always, my goal is to win the next game in hopes it will lead us to the state tournament.
VYPE: Do you play on a travel team? If so, how has that experience helped you be successful in school ball?
RH: Yes, in travel ball we face tough competition which prepares me for tough 6A competition.
VYPE: What type of leader do you aspire to be?
RH: I aspire to be a leader that leads by example and earns respect from their teammates.
