Q&A with Southmoore’s Preston Kutej- Presented by Christian Brothers Automotive

VYPE: What life lessons have you learned from baseball that you can use in daily life?

Preston Kutej: Baseball has taught me patience and that it is okay to fail if you keep trying.

VYPE: What makes you passionate about baseball?

PK: I’m passionate about my sport because I have always been around baseball and loved the game. I want to succeed for myself and my family.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

PK: The teammate who has pushed me the most, I would say, is Chase Garner. We have been teammates since we were eight years old. We’ve pushed one another and he is always there to help me.

VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

PK: I first started playing baseball when I was three years old and my two older cousins, Jacob and Jared, introduced me to it. I would always go to their games to watch them play and practice with them in the front yard.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

PK: My favorite part about representing Southmoore is showing people we are well-coached and disciplined.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

PK: The best advice I have ever received is to not let anything discourage me, to keep my head up and to not stop.

VYPE: What are your plans for after high school?

PK: After high school, I plan to play college baseball, do physical therapy, or become a chiropractor.

VYPE: What is the most memorable vacation you have taken and why?

PK: My most memorable vacation was when I went on a cruise around Mexico with my family and friends. It was very entertaining all the time, going around Mexico doing activities.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say thank you to anyone you wish. PK: I would like to thank my mom, Maw-maw and cousins Jacob and Jared for guiding me into baseball and helping me love the game.
