VYPE: What life lessons have you learned from baseball that you can use in daily life?
Preston Kutej: Baseball has taught me patience and that it is okay to fail if you keep trying.
VYPE: What makes you passionate about baseball?
PK: I’m passionate about my sport because I have always been around baseball and loved the game. I want to succeed for myself and my family.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
PK: The teammate who has pushed me the most, I would say, is Chase Garner. We have been teammates since we were eight years old. We’ve pushed one another and he is always there to help me.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
PK: I first started playing baseball when I was three years old and my two older cousins, Jacob and Jared, introduced me to it. I would always go to their games to watch them play and practice with them in the front yard.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
PK: My favorite part about representing Southmoore is showing people we are well-coached and disciplined.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
PK: The best advice I have ever received is to not let anything discourage me, to keep my head up and to not stop.
VYPE: What are your plans for after high school?
PK: After high school, I plan to play college baseball, do physical therapy, or become a chiropractor.
VYPE: What is the most memorable vacation you have taken and why?
PK: My most memorable vacation was when I went on a cruise around Mexico with my family and friends. It was very entertaining all the time, going around Mexico doing activities.
