Southmoore’s Aidan Hobbs

Cross country runners compete against the crowd of fellow runners at the meet and they compete against themselves, pushing their limits for faster times while silencing the voice in their head and the pain in their bodies.

Southmoore High School’s Aidan Hobbs is a senior this season and his goals may seem simple, but to achieve them he must push himself beyond his current limits.

“My expectations are to set personal PRs and compete to the best of my ability. I have a goal to make state this season and would like to continue running in college,” said Hobbs.

The senior said his teammates are fun to be around and everyone is encouraging. From former teammates to his parents and coaches, all have influenced Hobbs to be the best version of himself he can be.

“My parents, coaches, and old teammates who graduated, all encourage and inspire me to me run fast and compete at my very best,” said Hobbs.

In the classroom Hobbs said he enjoys World History, and his favorite teacher is Mr. Beuchaw who taught Biology and Zoology. Hobbs is a current member of FCA and will participate in track this spring. Hobbs said this season he is looking to help his younger teammates by encouraging them and inspiring them to work hard.

After high school, Hobbs would like to continue his athletic career in college.

“After high school I would like to run cross country and track in college. No sure what I want to major in at this time,” said Hobbs.

Away from the track, Hobbs said he enjoys reading books, watching television and being involved in church activities.
