Southmoore’s Kate Seaton – Presented by Kristy and Ginny Freeman Shelter Insurance

Kate Seaton was only a freshman on Southmoore’s fastpitch team last year but was nonetheless an integral piece to the SaberCats’ fifth state championship run last fall.

“It was probably the best day ever,” Seaton said. “The feeling of winning the last game of the season is so special and rare. It’s hard to even describe. . . It has absolutely made me hungrier to get another!”

“She’s a great teammate and a leader as a young player for us,” SaberCats head coach Jason Lingo said. “She is exemplary in the classroom, and you can’t find a better person to be a part of your team. I’d take 18 Kate Seatons.”

Only a sophomore, Seaton is already budding into a promising leader on this year’s team. Maintaining Southmoore’s tradition of excellence isn’t easy, and it takes every player in the dugout’s contributions.

“I feel responsible to keep the Southmoore reputation and tradition strong. The commitment is to my teammates, I don’t want to let any of them down,” Seaton said. “There are so many great players who have their names on the wall here at Southmoore. . . During our 2023 championship year, that is what stuck out the most to me watching our seniors. They didn’t accept failure and pushed all of us to get better even when things weren’t always going well.”

Seaton is also involved with Student Leadership Athletics Council and plays offseason fastpitch for Extra Effort Cardinals 2026. She also attends church.

“I love being at church and I try to bring my faith into all aspects of my life. I also love to play volleyball and recently started to try to learn to play golf,” Seaton said.

Seaton plans to play at the collegiate level.

“I can’t remember when I first knew I wanted to, but when I was little I remember going to the Halloween softball-baseball scrimmage at OU and it was just so fun,” Seaton said. “Being involved in sports taught me that I am stronger than I ever thought I was. It has taught me that I’m a leader and the reward for hard work is worth the extra effort.”
