OUTLOOK
A change in classification could give the team a boost, but basketball is basketball at any level and head coach Justin Williams understands his team must step things up to be highly competitive in Class 3A.
“The overall outlook for the Lady Knights has changed quite a bit as we have gone from 5A back down to 3A. We have a competitive group that is excited to get back to competing against schools in our class. We did lose quite a bit last year from a scoring and rebounding standpoint but have added some nice young pieces to go along with a big junior class led by our point guard, Clara Bebee. We have some solid senior leadership at the top and look to bounce back this year and be much more competitive across the board,” said coach Williams.
Bebee (5-7, Jr.) is a VYPE Top 100 selectee and a player who averaged 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. A two-year starter at point guard, Bebee will play a key role in the overall success of the team. Carlie Little (5-9, Sr.) is an excellent forward who averaged 5.0 points and 5.0 rebounds a game. Little is joined at forward by Corinne McGrath (5-9, Sr.). McGrath’s play in the paint will be crucial for the Lady Knights.
Another senior to watch is Haley Henderson (5-5) at guard. Hadley Holloman (5-5, Jr.) joins Henderson at guard where she averaged 5.0 points a game last season.
Other juniors to watch include Hallie Brankel (5-5, Jr.) at guard, Sophie Starke (5-6, Jr.) at guard, Aubree Jeffries (5-6, Jr.) at guard, and Holland Robertson (6-0, Jr.) at forward. The roster does not include anyone from the sophomore class, but it does include several freshmen who could see playing time this season.
The freshman class includes Molly Mentzel (5-11, Fr.) at forward, Callie Graham (5-6, Fr.) at guard, Hayley Hoxie (5-9, Fr.) at forward and Olivia Neal (5-5, Fr.) at guard.
