CROSSINGS CHRISTIAN KNIGHTS

Coach: JACOB STEPHENSON

7-4

OFFENSE

The Knights are looking to build off last season and make a deep run in the postseason. Head coach Jacob Stephenson will be looking to the upperclassmen to be leaders and play a big role in the team’s success. “We will be a team with multiple returning starters on both sides of the ball,” Stephenson said. “The larger senior class will lead the charge this year on both the offense and the defense.” Jonah Neher (5-11, 200, Sr.) is back at running back and will be a leader on the offensive side of the ball. Last season he had 1,280 rushing yards and five touchdowns and will look to continue that production this season. Nolan Matthews (5-11, 245, Sr.) will anchor things on the offensive line and work to keep the defense at bay. Working alongside him on the line are Darius Maree (6-4, 200, Sr.) and Zane Brooks (6-1, 210, Sr.). Brayden Ayala (5-11, 175, Sr.) has the ability to play multiple positions for the Knights, giving coaches a number of options for him. Playing at tight end will be Jake Robinson (6-3, 190, Jr.).

DEFENSE

The Crossings Christian defense returns a number of solid contributors to last year’s defensive squad. Free safety Bennett Baker (6-0, 175, Sr.) ended last season with 111 tackles and two interceptions. He will be called on to continue that kind of production this season. At linebacker will be two physical and hardworking young men. Bennett Bell (5-11, 175, Sr.) and Holden Manchester (6-1, 205, Jr.) combined for 134 tackles, six sacks and an interception. Both guys bring a lot to the defense and are tenacious. At outside linebacker is Gavin McElroy (6-0, 185, Sr.), who tallied 40 tackles, six sacks, and four fumble recoveries last season. Assistant coaches this season are Chad Enloe, Jeremy Kliewer, Travis Wike, and Diego Zavarce.
