Heritage Hall returns a veteran group in 2026–27, with seven starters back on offense and eight on defense, giving the Chargers a strong base of experience and leadership. Head coach Brett Bogert, in his 21st year at the school, says they will be tested early in a demanding non-district slate that includes Arkansas 7A defending champion Shiloh Christian, plus Lincoln Christian and Millwood. That stretch is expected to prepare Heritage Hall for a brand-new 3A-3 district, which will be the program’s first time competing in an East district. Assistant coaches include Andy Bogert, Ted Perry, Chandler Shapard, Steve Chard, Chase Holland, Jake Berrey, Kyle Gillum and Seth Meacham, while booster club president Tina Walker helps support the program off the field.
Offensively, the Chargers operate a multiple spread scheme and plan to both run and throw effectively depending on how defenses line up. Senior receiver Porter England (5-10, 172) leads the way after a big junior year (full stats attached in the form), and he is capable of playing all receiver spots and carrying the ball from the backfield. Senior quarterback Teagan Lawson (6-1, 165) returns to direct the offense behind a line anchored by senior tackle Caleb Blue (6-5, 268) and senior lineman Ryan Bullock (5-9, 225). Senior running back Nash Eiser (5-9, 205) gives the ground game a physical presence, and junior Max Everett (5-8, 168) contributes as a multipurpose back/receiver. With seven offensive starters back, Heritage Hall expects to stay versatile and explosive.
Defensively, Heritage Hall lines up in a hybrid 30 stack that attacks offenses and “tries to make the offense play defense” with its aggressiveness. Senior linebackers Walker Wedel (6-1, 184) and Carson Phelps (6-3, 225) are key leaders in the middle, while senior defensive end Andrick Golden (6-0, 230) and senior lineman Ayers Kurtz (6-1, 246) provide size and power up front. Senior defensive end Austin King (6-2, 218) and junior free safety Tripp Thomas (6-2, 194) round out the highlighted defenders, giving the Chargers proven playmakers at every level. England is the Top 100 nominee; Bogert calls him a three-year starter and two-year captain who can play all over the field on offense and defense and is also a dangerous return man. He is expected to lead Heritage Hall in receiving again and carries a 4.0 GPA, underscoring his value on and off the field.
