Bowlegs’ Colton Sullivan – Presented by Bowlegs Booster Club

Some athletes decide to play a sport because they like that sport, while others may be signed up by their parents. But Colton Sullivan got his start in sports for a different reason, but no matter how it happened, he says he is glad that it did.

“The only reason I started playing football was because I made a bet with my brother,” he said. “And now I’ve fallen in love with it. This past year we won a powerlifting state championship. It was a really cool experience and I hope we carry that into this next football season.”

Colton is a senior at Bowlegs High School. He plays football, basketball, and is also on the powerlifting and academic teams. He is also a member of the Beta Club and drama.

Family is important to Colton and he has a few family members that he looks up to.

“My big brother Dillon, my dad, and my best friend Brayden Smith are role models for me,” he said. “I work hard to keep myself motivated by wanting to win. My sister Bailey also kept me motivated because she was also the water girl so she would yell at me everytime I did something wrong, which helped me a lot.”

It has taken a lot of time and effort for Colton to get to where he is today, but he says that work is worth the payoff.

“It has taken a lot of hard work, time, and dedication throughout the summer and the school year,” he said. “But I have made a lot of great memories while playing. One of my favorite ones was having the opportunity to play alongside my brother before he graduated.”

When he steps on the field with his Bowlegs Bison uniform on, Sullivan knows that he is representing his school and community.

“It means everything to represent them on the field,” he said. “I’m not just playing for me,  I’m playing for the school that funds us to be able to play and the team who works side by side with me in order to win.”
