Claremore Public School teacher Lakyn Ramsey is a self-professed learner at heart, so making the decision to return to school was an easy one. Ramsey enrolled in the Southern Nazarene University MAEL [Master of Arts in Educational Leadership] program.
“I knew after graduating with my Undergraduate degree that I would want to continue further to get a master’s degree as well. I am also fresh out of college and eager to pursue as much as possible! SNU makes it easy to work, spend quality time with family, and complete the degree all at once,” said Ramsey.
Having classes close to home was a factor for Ramsey, but her cohort is what sold her on the program.
“SNU offers classes in my hometown as they are partnered with my district. It made choosing SNU the perfect choice for me,” Ramsey said. “I love the cohort! We are all teachers in the same district, and we truly rely on one another to keep pushing through.”
Educators looking to advance their careers pursue their master’s degree. Ramsey is preparing for her future by establishing an educational base that can help her advance if and when she chooses.
“With this degree I will be able to advance further in my career later in life if I choose to do so,” said Ramsey.
Ramsey said anyone looking to further their education or advance in their career with their current employer should consider continuing their education with SNU.
“Go for it! SNU understands that many of us are also working professionals or parents and they make it easy to continue to learn! Strive to grow in your life,” she said.
Away from teaching and school, Ramsey said she enjoys spending time with close to her.
“I love spending time with my husband, Wyatt, and our dog. We love to spend quality time around the house in our free time.”
