WESTERN HEIGHTS
GIRLS
COACH: Charles Hunt
2023 Record: 1-24
The Western Heights Lady Jets are embarking on the 2024-25 season with a young roster and a focus on development and growth. Head coach Charles Hunt is guiding a team eager to gain valuable in-game experience while finding refuge and camaraderie on the court.
“This season we have a young team and will be aiming to gain as much in-game experience as possible,” said Hunt. “These young ladies face a variety of challenges in their lives, and basketball is an opportunity for most to escape that reality and enjoy time with their peers.”
Junior point guard Aaliyah Wright (5-8, Jr.) will lead the backcourt, bringing energy and direction to the offense. Her court vision and ability to manage the pace of play will be crucial for the Jets.
Sophomore Alecianna “Ace” Engmann (6-0, So.) and sophomore Khamiyah Laster (6-1, So.) form an imposing frontcourt duo. Engmann, a versatile guard-forward, and Laster, a strong forward, bring size and athleticism to the paint. Both players are expected to make significant contributions on both ends of the floor.
Senior guards Ionia Howell (5-6, Sr.) and Savaiah Altstatt (5-7, Sr.) bring leadership and experience to the lineup. Howell’s defensive tenacity and Altstatt’s shooting touch will be key assets for the Lady Jets. Sophomore guard Precious Lee (5-8, So.) rounds out the roster with her emerging skills and potential to impact games in meaningful ways.
Despite last year’s record, the Lady Jets are determined to use this season to improve and build a solid foundation for the future. The team’s camaraderie, resilience, and commitment to each other promise an exciting journey for Western Heights basketball.
