2023 Tuttle Lady Tigers Basketball Preview – Presented by Rhonda Littleton Shelter Insurance

TUTTLE TIGERS

GIRLS

Coach: Jamie Combs

22-23 Record: 26-3

Last season saw the Lady Tigers fall just short of being able to hoist the state championship trophy.  Head coach Jamie Combs says that this team has a lot of playoff experience and will look to players to step up and fill holes left by graduation. “We are striving to continue our run of state tournament appearances, looking for our fifth straight,” Combs said. “We have four returning starters and a key bench contributor returning from last year. While we graduated a key player in Landry Allen, we have a committee of good players who will be contributing in various ways this year. Our team will have a different feel, but we are looking forward to competing at the highest of levels in our class.” Ava Battles (5-6, Sr.) is the team leader,

best scorer, and most experienced player and she has committed to Oklahoma Baptist University. Last year she averaged 14.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.4 steals. Joining her as major players on this year’s team are Kinzley Battles (5-8, Jr.), Ava Battles (5-6, Sr.), Allie Rehl (5-9, Sr.), and Samantha Teague (5-9, Sr.). This core has a lot of experience playing together and will look to lead Tuttle on another postseason run. Another big-time player for the Lady Tigers is Marissa Sandlin (5-9, So.). She is a tough, strong, and physical guard. She can attack the basket and finish through contact. She is also a capable shooter. Defensively, she can guard any position, and is especially strong and tough in post defense. She is also an aggressive rebounder. Other members of the team that will look to make contributions are Rylee O’Dell (5-6, So.), Hailey Day (5-4, Fr.), Kenzie Ballard (5-4, Fr.), Courtlyn Traxler (5-9, Jr.), Mya Sisson (5-6, Sr.), Alexis Williams (5-10, Jr.), Brianna Williams (5-10, Fr.), Ellie Dombek (5-9, Jr.), Jordyn Jackson (5-7, Fr.), Kyndell Cummings (5-6, Jr.), and Marissa Sandlin (5-9, So.).
