The Blanchard Lady Lions are eager to bounce back after an injury-riddled 2023 season that saw key players sidelined. With a mix of returning starters and promising young talent, head coach David Sikes is optimistic about his team’s ability to compete and improve on last year’s record.
“We have a great group of returning players and some young players coming in that will provide much-needed depth,” said Sikes. “I’m excited to see us bounce back from an injury ridden season, which saw us at one point having three starters out.”
Leading the charge will be key returning players Sadie Franklin (5-8, Jr., G), Mariah Ligons (5-7, Sr., G), and Teegan Cullison (5-9, Sr., G/F), who bring experience and leadership to the court. Franklin, known for her tenacity on both ends of the floor, is expected to make a significant impact in the backcourt. Ligons brings energy and skill to the guard position, while Cullison’s versatility as a guard-forward hybrid makes her a vital part of the Lady Lions’ strategy.
Blanchard is also looking forward to the return of Alex Price (5-10, Sr., P) and Kylann Dobbs (5-6, Jr., G), who are back on the floor after season-ending injuries last year. Price will anchor the team in the post, using her size and strength to control the paint, while Dobbs adds speed and shooting from the perimeter.
The Lady Lions have additional depth in juniors Addison Schmidt (5-11, Jr., P) and Kinzie Sherman (5-7, Jr., G), who will provide valuable minutes in the rotation. Sophomore contributors include Karolina Sikes (5-6, So., G), Jazmyn Haynes (5-5, So., G), and Maddy Minton (5-9, So., F), all of whom are expected to step into larger roles this season. Freshman newcomers Bailey Uhlenhake, KJ Scott, Finley Lockwood, Allie Singleton, Avery Anderson, and Paige Robertson bring energy and potential to the roster.
