Athlete Spotlight with Blanchard’s Brayson Carter – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Norman

It’s been a long and fun journey for Brayson Carter to get to this point in his young baseball career. The Blanchard High School senior started playing ball at the age of four and is now a centerfielder and shortstop for BHS in his final stretch as a prep player.

Carter said over the years he has developed his game to be a versatile player who can contribute in multiple ways. His speed in the outfield also helps him snag those extra bases.

“My strength is my speed and agility and I’ve improved most in my contact and striking out less,” said Carter.

His contributions at the plate have helped his team to an amazing season with only one loss that came back in spring break when the team traveled to Gulf Breeze, Florida for a major tournament. So far, the Lions have 12 shutout victories over their opponents and are heading into post season play as one of the favorites in Class 4A.

Carter said as a team the group supports and pushes each other to be great.

“What I love about my teammates is they always are there for you and push you to the max,” said Carter.

Inspired by his father, Carter said the two things he is most proud of are giving his life to Christ and winning a state championship. Carter plans to attend Emporia State University next fall where he will play football. As for his final days at BHS? Carter said knowing family and friends are around to see it all means everything to him.

“It means everything knowing they are always there for you during the good and bad.”
