There is a lot going on in the lives of high school juniors and seniors. From sports to the classroom, college considerations to prom, there are many things requiring their attention.
For Bridge Creek High School junior Craigan Hastings, playing basketball and attending classes at Mid-America Technology are two things that kept him busy.
“I enjoy my class at Mid America Technology because of my friends and teachers, they make my three hours the best time of the day and they not only teach the whole time, but they make it so much fun which makes it easier for me to learn,” said Hastings.
Those classes are preparing Hastings for life after high school.
“My classes at Tech will help me in the future because I am wanting to become a firefighter and the class I am in [EMT] will help me get to where I want to be later on in life,” said Hastings.
His drive and focus in the classroom was also on display during basketball season. Hastings started playing the sport in the fourth grade. Now a shooting guard on the varsity basketball team, Hastings said he love the game and being around his teammates.
“My strength is definitely shooting and driving in, I also improved my shooting and finishing skills,” Hastings said. “I love my teammates not only because there my friends but because of how caring and supportive they are through the rough times and the good times.”
Hastings said the community of Bridge Creek is a great place and the school provides the students with a safe and caring environment for learning. When his time at BCHS comes to an end, Hastings would like to serve as a fireman and help those in need.
When asked about his biggest accomplishment in sports, Hastings said it came in another sport, not basketball.
“My biggest accomplishment that I’m most proud of is making a hole-in-one at Pebble Creek Golf Course when I was eight years old.”
