Athlete Spotlight with Tuttle’s Traylon Barnes – Presented by Elite Promotional Solutions

A middle infielder and pitcher for Tuttle High School, Traylon Barnes is enjoying his sophomore season with the Tigers.

Barnes is known for his solid defense and his pitching. Having played ball since the age of six, Barnes has developed into one of the top players in the class. Making the Oklahoma PBR for the Class of 2027 is an accomplishment Barnes is proud of making. His goal for the future is to play baseball at the next level while pursuing a degree.

“[The goal for life after high school is to] go on to play D1 college baseball,” said Barnes.

The sophomore said his older brother is a source of inspiration. Grayson Barnes is a pitcher for the University of Central Oklahoma. Barnes said his teammates are more like brothers and they love the support everyone gives the team.

“They are like my brothers. They are always there to pick me up. We all share a common goal which is to win! They push me to be better every day,” Barnes said. “It means so much to me to know that I am supported doing the thing I love most. My parents make sure that they are at every game to support me. Even in the summer that means traveling all over. Coach Draper makes himself available. Whether it be hitting, pitching, or fielding he makes himself available outside of school and practice hours to get extra work in.”

Barnes said it’s a challenge to maintain a 4.0 GPA while putting in all of the work to be an elite baseball player, but THS coaches are there to support the athletes.“Tuttle is known for their athletics. The coaches push you to be better at the game and to be a better person,” said Barnes.
