Blanchard’s Christian Young
At Blanchard High School, upcoming sophomore Christian Young stays focused on what is important to him: his faith. From Little League to high school football, Young says he lives for an audience of one—Jesus Christ. His parents, both pastors of a local church, have shaped his leadership and values.
“They have always told me that a good leader leads from the front,” he reflects. “I’m grateful for their leadership in my life.”
Young not only has strong support from his family but also from the Blanchard community who show up and show out providing an “electric atmosphere” on game days.
“Many local churches provide meals for the football team and coaches on a weekly basis during football season,” he adds. “I appreciate their love for this city and this team.”
Before taking the field, the Blanchard Lions gather as a band of brothers united by faith.
“We all pray before we ever step foot on that field,” he says. “Pre-game moments by far mean the most to me.”
As nose guard and center, Young’s work ethic matches his values. Between football camps, weight training, and nutrition, Young stays dialed in. While he may not be the biggest defensive lineman, he draws inspiration from NFL player Aaron Donald whom he admires not only for his talent but for how he turned being “overlooked” into motivation.
“He has used his under-size and strength as leverage,” Young shares. “You can overlook size, but you can’t overlook drive, and domination on the field.”
It’s a mindset that fuels his own game: a player who might be underestimated—but never outworked. For Young, it all comes back to purpose and passion.
“Sometimes you can win and win poorly because the heart of your team is messed up,” he explains. “We win well, and we lose well.”
Christian Young approaches life with a spirit of fire and tenacity— allowing his faith to guide his actions and define his purpose. His deep appreciation for the brotherhood and community at Blanchard reflects the Christ-centered character he lives out every day.
“It’s always a good day to be a LION!”
