All athletes that play a competitive sport have at least one thing in common and that is they
want to be successful. No matter what sport they compete in, they want to be at their best when
they play. Bryce Benson knows what it takes and also what keeps him working.
“Success in sports takes a lot of dedication and effort to get better everyday,” he said. “I also
give God the glory in anything I do because He has blessed me to be able to play these sports I
do. What motivates me the most in sports are my teammates. Knowing that I have a
commitment to each of them. I want to set an example as a leader and be there for the younger
players.”
Bryce is a senior at Bridge Creek High School, where he is a multisport athlete. He is a member
of the football, basketball, and track teams. Outside of sports, he is also a member of the
Student Council and the National Honor Society.
The teammates that Benson competes alongside are a special group that he says he greatly
appreciates.
“The teammate I enjoy working against the most in practice is Grayson Robertson,” he said.
“We both like to compete and hate losing to each other in practice. We push each other to get
better. I think the least appreciated players on our team are our bench players. They don’t get a
lot of recognition, but they are always motivated to play hard. Their attitudes are so supportive
and when they come into play, they do it with a lot of great energy.”
Another group of people that have had an impact on Benson’s life are the role models that he
looks up to in life.
“My biggest role model in my life is my mom,” he said. “She has been through so much, and has
taught me throughout those hard times, that you just gotta keep pushing. The most influential
teacher in my life is Coach K. He has not only coached me in basketball, he’s taught me how to
work hard and gave me good life skills for the real world.”
