Blanchard High School’s Emma Price has been a cheerleader her whole life. Her love of the sport came from someone very close to her.
“My older sister did high school cheer then cheered for New Mexico State University, so growing up and seeing her cheer made me really interested in the sport,” said Price.
In addition to looking up to her older sister, Price admires one of her coaches for the perspective and motivation she offers in cheer.
“The person I look up to as a role model would be my All-Star cheer coach, Lindsey Driskill,” said Price. “As a Team USA coach and former Team USA athlete and a former OSU cheer coach, I trust her coaching 100 percent and hope to be the type of athlete that she loves to coach.”
Just like Price desires to be a coachable athlete, she also aims high and works hard for her team. She wants to make sure she’s bringing her best to the squad so that they can count on her.
“The thing that motivates me the most would be wanting to be the absolute best for my teammates,” she said. “I always strive to be the teammate that the team can rely on. My teammates mean family, the bonds that I have built with my teammates will always be something that I’ll forever cherish!”
Aside from going against her favorite competitive rival, the Tuttle Tigers, Price’s favorite moment to look back on in her time cheering for the Blanchard Lions is definitely a big one for any athlete.
“My favorite memory would have to be winning OSSAA state with my team. The hard work we put in really paid off and getting to experience that win made it all worth it,” she said.
Price is also involved in National Honor Society, and outside of school she is on an All-Star cheer team at Tribe Cheer. After high school she plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to study meteorology, where she also plans to try out for the Sooners cheer team.
Best of luck from VYPE, Emma!
