Newcastle’s Lead Bradley – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Norman

By: Hunter Ferguson

Newcastle girls basketball player Leah Bradley spoke with VYPE in an interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
I want to be the best leader I can be for my team. I also want to improve my game from last year to this year.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Last year we traveled to Elk City to play them on their senior night. We were heavily voted against and no one believed that we could even hang with them. We ended up beating them by 60-49.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Lilly Rimmer. Although she is not with us anymore, she always had the best attitude and was always ready to go for anything. She played with so much passion and I could not be more great full to be able to have played with her.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
I get to play with my best friends. Our team has so much love for each other and I am so blessed to be able to play with them.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
I am a part of Honor Society so I do community service there.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
I am a part of Honor Society. I like to go do community service and give back to my community.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Get back up. Life is going to throw you a lot of curve balls and you have to get back up and push through it.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Coach Copeland told our team a quote that has always stuck with me. She told us “don’t wait for the storm to pass. instead, dance in the rain.” Don’t wait for things to get better, make the most out of what God gives you. A lot of the time in life we are waiting for tomorrow or waiting for something to happen. Dance through the rain.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Jesus inspires me because he died for our sins, so we get to go to Heaven. His selfless love and sacrifice is something that I am in awe of. I try to live my life every day to be like him.
