Competition comes in many forms. From sports to floor-is-lava, if two people get together and there is the possibility of a clear winner, chances are they are going to compete for that honor.
Tuttle High School senior Chandler Patterson has competed with the high school academic team, and he loves being able to represent the Tuttle Tigers on that stage.
“I have competed all four years of high school and all three years of middle school. My main categories are pop culture, musical theater, Spanish, and government,” said Patterson.
This season the competition to make the state was tough, but Patterson said the team enjoyed competing and challenging themselves to get better.
“Competing was challenging this year, but such a blast. Also, anytime a probability question came up, I tapped out. I love challenging myself academically, as well as just getting to play with my wonderful teammates,” said Patterson.
Academics are not the only team Patterson is on at Tuttle High School. He is a member of the Tiger Pride band and multiple clubs.
“I am Drum Major of the Tiger Pride Marching Band, President of THS Student Council, District Coordinator of THS Spanish Club, a member of National Honor Society, a Unified Partner with Special Olympics, and the Tuttle Girls Golf Manager,” said Patterson.
That leaves little time for anything else, but when he does experience some down time, Patterson knows exactly what he wants to do.
“I keep myself pretty busy with all of my extracurriculars, but during my limited free time I love reading, listening to music, and watching C-SPAN,” said Patterson.
Next fall, Patterson will take his talents to the next level.
“I will be attending Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in Political Science with a Minor in Spanish. My dream is to work in government and public service,” said Patterson.
The senior said his parents have been a big influence in his life and he wants to influence the next team at Tuttle.
“I know this a cliche, but my parents have been the biggest influences. They have really pushed me to explore any opportunities that come my way, even when I am extremely nervous. My message to the team next year is that it doesn’t matter what players you lose, what teams you have to play, or if you win at all. As long as you are having fun, bonding, and growing as a person that is all that matters,” said Patterson.
