VYPE: Mark, what grade are you in this year and how long have you played the game of golf?
Douglas: I am in 12th grade. My dad is someone I have always looked up to and with him loving the game of golf, I was going to also. Therefore, I have played ever since I can remember.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite course to play?
Douglas: My favorite course is Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico. Gaining the extra yards from altitude and the Mountain View’s are hard to beat.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at Tuttle High School?
Douglas: My favorite part about being a student-athlete at Tuttle is being respected and honored by the community. Parents and peers are always admiring our hard work and congratulating us for our accomplishments.
VYPE: What about your teammates? What do they mean to you?
Douglas: My favorite thing about my teammates is the competitiveness. Whether it is practice, tournaments, or a bus ride phone game, we are always competing and challenging each other.
VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at THS?
Douglas: I have been a part of the National Honor Society club since my sophomore year. I also played and started all 4 years in football for Tuttle.
VYPE: What aspect of your game have you worked to improve this season?
Douglas: I have been working on better course management. The past few years I have played very aggressive golf. This year I am hoping to shave a handful of shots by playing smarter.
VYPE: How is the team coming together?
Douglas: Our team is looking very well this season. We have had a lot of guys training hard in the offseason. We also have a lot of depth, throughout the year many players will switch in and out of our top 5.
VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?
Douglas: After graduation I plan to attend Oklahoma State University to major in a Professional Pilots degree. Whereas I will be certified to fly commercially.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Douglas: In my free time I enjoy hunting, fishing, and going to my grandparent’s cabin in New Mexico to enjoy some time in the mountains.
