OUTLOOK
It’s an exciting time for Ruf-Nex basketball as head coach Chace McCaskill has a group of players who are ready to do great things.
“The class of 2025 has been the most successful class in Crooked Oak history. This class has gone 22-6 in 2022, 25-4 in 2023, 22-6 in 2024 and we expect the same result this upcoming season. We were in the area finals last year and bring back our core,” said coach McCaskill.
One player everyone is familiar with is returning guard Elijah Garcia (5-10, Sr.). Garcia is a VYPE Top 100 selectee who averaged 15 points per game last season. Garcia will have some help at guard in Tre Martinez (6-0, Sr.) and Jamel Morris (6-4, Jr.). Martinez averaged 5.0 steals and 6.0 assists per game while Morris averaged 14 points a game. This trio will be tough to stop this season.
Jordan Martinez (6-0, Jr.) shot 40 percent from the three-point line last year and is a threat to have a big night, every night. Coach McCaskill said Martinez is one of the best shooters he has ever coached. Kellen Fields (6-0, Sr.) is another guard who can score at will. Fields averaged 8.0 points a game as a junior. Imanol Gomez (5-10, Sr.) accounted for 4.0 assists from his guard spot while Alvin Dorset (6-8, Jr.) is expected to be a factor in the paint this season. Gomez has been a leader on this team since his freshman season and plays a critical role in the overall success on the team.
Other players to watch include Jadien Dixon (6-1, Fr.), James Greenhoward (6-0, Sr.), Jorge Rios (6-1, Sr.), Maleke Frost (6-6, Sr.), Breon Ballard (6-5, Sr.), Felipe Beltran (6-0, Sr.), Jesus Lopez (6-5, Jr.), DJ Moss (5-9, So.), Marcus Moss (5-9, So.), and KJ Johnson (6-4, Fr.).
