Community Christian enters 2026–27 with a veteran roster after playing very young a year ago. The Royals return eight offensive starters and nine defensive starters, including several players who got Friday night reps even if they did not start, and they “only lost one skill guy” on offense from last season. They have strong depth at running back and wide receiver and defensively “only lost two starters,” bringing back players who accounted for more than 90 percent of the team’s tackles. The Royals also return a first‑team Little All‑City and honorable mention All‑State kicker, giving them a proven weapon in the kicking game. Head coach Mat McIntosh enters his 11th year at CCS, supported by assistants Walter Boyd, Matt Cox, Nic Garmon, Aaron Henley, Lyn Hepner, Josh Jolley, David Lee, Greg Nation, Chris Potter and Aaron Sloan, while booster club president Aaron Henley helps coordinate support off the field.
On offense, CCS will line up in the spread and “look to get the ball in the hands of eight different guys a game.” Sophomore quarterback Ben Jolley (6‑1, 185) started every game as a freshman and threw for 2,293 yards and 17 touchdowns. Junior running back Carson Rehkop (6‑0, 175) produced 400 rushing yards and 250 receiving yards with eight total touchdowns, giving the Royals a versatile backfield threat. Sophomore receiver Austin Eshelman (6‑2, 185) caught 43 passes for 480 yards and six touchdowns, while senior receiver Kaiden Riley (5‑9, 150) added 20 catches for 165 yards and junior running back Brooks Brassfield (5‑10, 160) contributed 200 rushing yards. Senior lineman Iain Garmon (6‑0, 220) anchors the offensive front.
Defensively, CCS bases out of a 3‑4 and plans to bring “lots of pressure” while mixing coverages on the back end. Senior linebacker Jaiden Cox (5‑11, 185) recorded 72 tackles, and Rehkop is a two‑way standout at safety/linebacker with 97 tackles and two interceptions. Sophomore linebacker Will Mauterer (5‑11, 170) made 54 tackles, and Garmon added 32 tackles from the defensive line. Senior defensive back Reef Wilcox (6‑0, 165) posted 15 tackles, three tackles for loss and one interception, while senior linebacker Austin McMullen (6‑1, 190) contributed 27 tackles. Rehkop is the Top 100 nominee, having started since his freshman year and serving as a major contributor on both sides of the ball.
