Junior quarterback Tylar Lee is ready to lead Bowlegs High School into Friday nights that he says make all the hard work worth it. As the Longhorns prepare for the upcoming season, Lee sees a team defined by its closeness and a shared commitment to improvement.
“The thing I love most about our team is the bond we’ve built,” Lee said. “We’re a really close group, and everyone wants to see each other succeed. Nobody is only focused on themselves. We push each other to get better every day. It’s been exciting to gain new players this year. They’ve fit in really well, and it already feels like we’re one team.”
Lee’s approach to football is shaped by a role model he sees every day at Bowlegs. “My biggest inspiration is my dad. He’s been a teacher, coach, and administrator at my school for the past 13 years. I’ve watched how hard he works for the school, the students, and the athletes. He has a strong work ethic. He’s always looking for ways to make our sports programs better. He works to get us better equipment, make sure our teams have nice uniforms, and improve our facilities. He wants us to have what we need to succeed.”

On the field, Lee will line up under center this fall. “I’ll be playing quarterback this season. What I enjoy most is everything that comes with being part of the team. I love Friday night game nights. There’s nothing like the energy of running onto the field with your teammates. The game nights make all the preparation worth it. I love competing with guys.”
Lee is a multi-sport athlete, competing in basketball, baseball, track and powerlifting, and staying involved in Beta Club, FCA and Student Council. He points to former teammate Aiden Prentice, who battled back from a serious leg injury without missing summer practices, as a lasting example of commitment.
As a quarterback, Lee leans on his athleticism. “I think one of the strengths of my game is my speed and my ability to extend plays by scrambling when things don’t go as planned,” he said. “Sometimes that gives our team another chance to make a play and keeps the offense moving. There are always things to work on and improve. I’m constantly working to become faster and improve my accuracy.”
