OUTLOOK

The Royals just missed the state tournament last season and the returning players alongside head coach Tim Price are focused on getting this team back into playoff shape and making a run at the state tournament.

“We fell one game short of going to the state tournament last year but will be returning the core of our team. Hopefully we can take that next step and earn a state tournament berth this season. We should have quite a bit of depth to rely on with 8 of our top 10 players from last year returning,” coach Price said.

Destin Edwards (5-10, Sr.) is a guard who returns as the heart and soul of the team. Coach Price said of Edwards, “He will be a four-year starter for us and is only 70 points away from reaching the 1,000-point mark for his career. He is one of the top point guards in the state and will definitely be one of the top guards in Class 3A. He does a great job of leading vocally and by example for the rest of our players.”

Greyson Lowry (So.) is a player to watch this season; despite not starting early in the season last year as a freshman, Lowry worked his way into the starting lineup and never looked back.

“He is one of the best shooters in the state in our class but can also handle point guard responsibilities if needed. He’s got a very bright future,” coach Price said of Lowry.

Lucas Turner is the type of program player every coach wants on the roster. Coach Price said Turner is, “a solid piece of our foundation for multiple years.” His play and attention to detail sets him apart.

“The perfect type of kid who doesn’t care about filling the stat sheet, but just wants to do whatever it takes to help the team. He typically draws the responsibility of guarding the other team’s best scorer as well,” coach Price said.
