Community Christian School’s Carson Rehkop

Leadership is a big responsibility in sports, and that is something Carson Rehkop has picked up on quickly, early in his high school athletic career.

“Sports have taught me different ways to lead and how to work with others through hard things,” said the Norman Community Christian School sophomore.

Rehkop plays football, basketball, and soccer at CCS.

His memorable moments as an athlete are “either being named 1st team All-District safety this past year, or winning our middle school basketball conference championship,” he said.

Rehkop is inspired by the performance of his teammate, Austin Eshelman. “The passion he plays with and the hard work he puts in makes me work harder,” he said. Mr. McKay is his favorite teacher. “He is more laid back, and he is a lot like some of us,” Rehkop said.

“Just be yourself,” he said, is the best advice he ever heard someone give him.

His favorite college and NFL teams, respectively, are the Oklahoma Sooners and the New England Patriots.

“Being a big Sooners and Patriots fan, Baker Mayfield and Tom Brady were my favorite players,” Rehkop said.

When the Royals of CCS take the field, “I like showing people who doubt us that we can compete,” Rehkop said.

Outside of sports at school, “I’m a part of the youth group at Wildwood Church (in Norman) and an AAU basketball team. I like to watch TV shows/movies or hang out with friends,” the Royal three-sport athlete said.

Rehkop is grateful to his father and all his coaches.

“Thank you to my dad from being my coach back at the optimist club to now being my biggest supporter in the stands, he has always been there for me and is someone I strive to be like, he’s always supporting me and at halftime I always try to find him because he’s good at calming me and always has advice for me when I get back out there,” Rehkop said. “Thank you to the coaching staff for believing in me from my freshman year, or even when I was having a rough stretch at the beginning of the year and thank you for pushing me to be better.”
