Three state championships in a row have defined senior Jackson Kennedy’s high school golf career at Community Christian School, but his focus remains on the work ahead. “Winning state the last three years,” Kennedy said when asked what accomplishment he is most proud of.
Those victories came with lessons that shape how he handles every round. “To never give up and persevere no matter the situation,” he said of what golf has taught him. That mindset guides him through tough stretches on the course and beyond.
One teacher stands out from his school years. “Mrs. Bell,” Kennedy said. “She is a great person and truly cares for her students, as people and as students.”
A family member sets the standard he chases daily. “My grandpa,” he said when asked who inspires him. “He was a great man and hard worker, and I want to be like make him proud and be like him every day.” A teammate became a guiding light. “Collin Bond,” Kennedy said. “He is a great mentor and has an awesome work ethic and has taught me so many things in golf and in life.”
As the No. 2 bag for CCS, Kennedy takes pride in carrying the program’s name. “By having the name on my shirt and representing the great school of CCS,” he said of his favorite part about competing for the Royals.
Simple wisdom keeps him steady. “To never give up and never let the little things get to you,” Kennedy said of the best advice he has received.
He makes sure to recognize those closest to his success. “Thank you to my parents for everything, and to my swing coach Steve Ball for the countless hours and lessons,” he said.
One pro’s journey resonates deeply. “Anthony Kim,” Kennedy said. “Times got rough and he got down but he never gave up and that is paying off tremendously for him and he is doing great things for the game of golf.”
Kennedy brings more than birdies to the team. “I bring a lot of personality and joking to the team and van rides to tournaments,” he said.
