Winning is what they do at Dale High School. The school has 22 state titles in baseball. Their last coming in 2022 when they won the Fall baseball season. Coming into the new season, players like Jackson Harris are focused on making this a season to remember.
“I think this team is going to have a memorable year, we are hungry for this state championship. We came up short this season and lost in the championship. We all remember that feeling and we are going to come this season ready every single game ready to ball. I think if we pitch the ball good this season, we are going to be really good,” said Harris.
The team is putting in the work to meet their goals. Harris said the numbers are up and spirits are high.
“This off season we have had 22 off season boys this year and we have been getting to work getting better every single day. We have gotten faster, stronger, throwing harder and are going to be ready for this spring,” said Harris.
Defense is what Harris is known for, but he has continued to work on his swing and other elements of his game.
“I think my strength is my defense. I feel really confident in my defense, but I also think I am a good offensive player to. I have been working very hard on getting my swing right this off season. I have also been working on getting faster and stronger. I have worked a lot this off season on getting faster,” said Harris.
Every player has their process and for Harris, mentally preparing for competition is done by sticking to a routine.
“I get myself ready by doing the little things right I do every day. I take my warmup and stretching and getting ready before the game serious and I think that helps me get locked in to go compete.
Harris wants a legacy of hard work and as a player who did whatever it takes to win.
“I want to play every game with intensity and leave a hardworking legacy,” said Harris.
