Newcastle’s Ayden Elcyzyn – Football Spotlight – Presented by Secure Pavement

Ayden Elcyzyn, a senior at Newcastle High School, is a remarkable student-athlete who has shown dedication and resilience throughout his football career. His journey began early, as he shares, “I got into football in first grade with Newcastle and stuck with it every year.” This early start laid the foundation for his love for the game, heavily influenced by his family’s passion for football. “My family has always been big football fans, and with my parents supporting me, they let me go ahead and play.”

His role as a defensive end for the Newcastle Racers is vital, and he emphasizes the importance of preparation. “My specific role would be playing defensive end and making sure that we just play our game, keeping us level-headed, and the only way to prepare for that is to have a good week of practice.”

Ayden’s goals for the season are clear and ambitious. “Making it to playoffs but being a high enough seed where we get to host one or two games,” he said.

One of the most challenging moments in Ayden’s high school career was dealing with an injury. “I broke my arm my sophomore year three days before the home opener,” he shared. Overcoming this obstacle required patience and determination to regain his position on the team.

Looking ahead, Ayden envisions a future that balances academics and football. “I would like to be or have already graduated college, and if I get the opportunity to play football within those years, that would be lovely. But it is up to the Lord to help guide me and show me the path that he knows is best for me.”

He credits his parents as his biggest role models. “They have just done so much and pushed me to the player and athlete I am today, and I couldn’t thank them enough.”

Outside of football, Ayden prioritizes his academics and enjoys spending time with family and friends. “I take my academics very seriously, so I’m always making sure work is turned in on time and done correctly. During the summer, I also play video games and go to the lake and tube with family and friends.”

Reflecting on his football career, Ayden is proud of his dedication. “My best accomplishment would be me dedicating my focus to football around my start and end of sophomore season. I made sure I was going to play my junior year, so I bulked up and got faster and eventually ended up working hard enough to become the starting defensive end.”
