 Coach: Joe Crawford

23-24 Record: 12-15

OUTLOOK

The Lady Wildcats started putting things together at the end of last season and return the majority of that team this season. Coach Joe Crawford feels this team can pick up where they left off last year and make this a memorable season for the Lady Wildcats.

“We finished the season off last year on a 9-4 run. Finishing with a great run into Area. We return all of our players including one senior who recently signed with East Central University. This season is Piedmont’s second year in class 6A and should be a great returning class with varsity experience,” said coach Crawford.

The East Central University signee is Rylie Burnett (5-9, Sr.), a four-year starter and the returning leading scorer for the Wildcats. Burnett is explosive on offense and a great defender on the other end of floor. Tough to guard, Burnett is one of the top guards in the state. Ava Watkins (5-10, Jr.) is a post player coach Crawford expects to have a big year. Watkins does not shy away from physical play, and she has the ability to clean up the boards.

Kenley Crawford (5-9, So.) and Najya Wilson (5-5, Fr.) are two talented underclassmen as shooting guard and point guard respectively. Both players can get hot and make good decisions with the ball. Look for their contributions this season to be a major factor in the teams overall success.

Destiny Duffy (5-6, Jr.) is a returning starter and a lights-out shooter. Duffy suffered an injury in summer league play butis expected to make her return in the coming weeks. Duffy is a big piece of the puzzle for coach Crawford and is versatile enough to play any position on the floor. Also look for Bella Runge (5-9, So.), MacKenzie Arney (5-7, So.), and Averie Alfaro (5-3, Jr.) to have an impact this season.
