Q&A with Yukon’s Bo Barber – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Roger Karns, Shelter Insurance

Yukon’s Bo Barber

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year in basketball?

Bo Barber: To become the best player in my class and lead my team in all the stats.

VYPE: What has basketball taught you that you use in your daily life?

BB: That you don’t get everything you want and don’t take things for granted. Also, to enjoy the moment, seize the moment. You don’t get any better if you don’t make mistakes. Learn from them.

VYPE: What’s your favorite style of shoe to wear in game?

BB: I love KDs, pretty comfy and perfect for my feet.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

BB: LeBron James. His passion for the game taught me a lot about basketball and life. He worked for everything he has in life. He was hungry in life, so he pursued winning in life.

VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in basketball?

BB: Mental toughness, due to the fact that if you don’t have confidence your whole game is off so being locked in and being mentally tough will get you through anything in life.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great basketball player?

BB: Being coachable and taking that coaching to get better. And working as a whole unit and not individually. There is no “I” in team.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.

BB: My dad, John Barber, because he won Gatorade Player of the Year three years in a row in Kentucky for football and basketball. He holds a majority of the records at his old high school and then later played at OU for football.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?

BB: I wish I could play football because I’m tall and if I was really big, I would play TE.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?

BB: “No Switch” by NBA Youngboy.
