SNU’s Isis Lane – Sports Management and Administration Spotlight

SNU Sports Management Spotlight – Isis Lane

Everyone’s path to educational excellence is different. While some may take the straight road, others tend to experience a few things before settling in and completing their degrees as they see fit. That can be said for Isis Lane, who took a road many professional athletes take while pursuing their degree.

“As athletes, we naturally have that drive in us to want to be the best that we can be. After playing basketball professionally overseas and coaching for a few years, I started thinking to myself, “Okay, what’s next?” As soon as I found out about the Masters in Sports Management and Administration program at SNU, I knew that was the next step for me,” Lane said. “SNU was the perfect choice for me for a couple of reasons. I love the format of the classes. We take one class at a time, which gives us the opportunity to really take a deep dive into the topic of the class.”

SNU has many programs designed around the career professional who is working around a full schedule. These programs include a wide range of professionals seeking their masters degrees to further their careers.

“I enjoy being around such a diverse group of people who are unified by our love for athletics and our faith. I look forward to going to class every week and hearing what my classmates have been up to and what they have to say about this week’s topic. Shoutout to our program director, Dr. Goodman! She’s so knowledgeable, and she provides an engaging environment for us in her classroom that allows us to have debates and conversations that help give us a deeper understanding of the complex topics we’re learning about,” said Lane.

After coaching for two years at her alma mater, PC North, Lane transitioned into another side of the game, officiating.

“I’m currently teaching U.S. History at Capitol Hill while pursuing a professional officiating career! Referees sometimes get a bad rep, but we have the same love for the game that everyone else involved does, and I’m excited to give back to the game in a different way,” said Lane.

Her advice to anyone looking to continue their education at SNU is simple.

“Do it! The community at SNU is built for you to succeed. You’ll have all of the support systems in place that you need to help get you to where you want to be. I know that once I finish the program, I’ll have gained the knowledge and made the connections that I need to jump right into whatever career path I end up choosing.”
