Del City’s Quaylin Goodman – Football Spotlight – Presented by Tom Kilburn – Shelter Insurance

Del City High School senior, Quaylin Goodman, is looking to the future. He has played football his entire life with the goal of continuing to play football at the college level.

Quaylin started playing football by looking up to his dad who played at Oklahoma State University. “I always wanted to play football ever since to follow him in his football dream. Now I’m taking football to a whole different level,” he says.

Quaylin plays defensive tackle for DCHS. “This sport has taught me how to stay committed to whatever I am doing in life. My favorite part is I get to be around my brothers every day and have fun.” he says.

Winning the district championship against Coweta ranks high as his best memory playing. “They beat us last year for the championship, so we were all dialed in that week of practice. We went down there and handled business. That was my favorite experience,” recalls Quaylin.

The teammate leaving the biggest impression on him is Choncei Jones. “He always pushes me to my limits, and we always make sure we are working hard, battling together on and off the field,” said Quaylin.

Football players are well-known in high school, making it important for Quaylin to represent his school well. “I just really embrace all of those blessings and just take on the leadership so the next generation can take the lead when they come,” he said.

Quaylin gives a shoutout to his mom, family, friends, and everyone supporting him. He is most inspired by his mom who works so much and still finds time to make his favorite food, chicken shrimp alfredo. His mom must cook it he says because she makes the best pasta, hands down! “She never complains, she is always here if I need her, and she is very loving and caring to anyone.” he says.

The best advice someone gave him was to just be himself. “Everything will come to you when it’s ready, don’t take no time off. Keep your head down and keep working!” he exclaims.
