Luther’s Aden Henke – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst Luther

VYPE: What has baseball taught you that you use in your daily life?

Aden Henke: Mental toughness. It’s a must to be a pitcher.

VYPE: What is your position and what do you like most about it?

AH: Left-handed pitcher and first base. My positions are always in on the action. Not much standing around.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about baseball?

AH: There’s not much I don’t love about baseball. You are part of a team, but you also get challenged as an individual.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

AH: My parents are the reason I am who I am today, especially my mother. She has the biggest heart and is by far the hardest worker I know. She inspires me to be the best version of myself in everything I do. No matter if I have failed or succeeded, she has always been there every step of the way to support me.

VYPE: What teammate left the biggest impression on you and why?

AH: A teammate I will never forget is Kolton Starkey. He was two grades above me. While in football, he took me under his wing. Kolton taught me so many things about leadership and how to one day take on the role of being a great upperclassman leader.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

AH: When you have success and the opportunity to change the culture for the school you love.

VYPE: What is your favorite baseball accomplishment?

AH: Setting a new school record for most strikeouts with 18k in a single game.

VYPE: Now that you’re a senior, what are your plans after high school?

AH: Play baseball at the next level. Obtain an aviation degree and pilot’s license. After college, I plan to join the Air National Guard and fly for the military.

VYPE: Here is your chance to thank anyone you wish.

AH: I can’t say thank you enough to the coaches, administrators and teachers who have helped mold me into the person I am today. I hope they know I will never forget them.
