Norman North’s Tate Bryan

By Elizabeth Contreras

Football started in fourth grade for this Norman North safety, but it was his mom who showed him what greatness really looks like. Junior Tate Bryan credits his mother as his biggest influence, citing her profound example for his mentality now.

“She set the standard on how to be great in life,” Bryan shares.

Bryan has used that influence to foster a genuine devotion to the sport, something that has only been strengthened by the environment around him. At Norman North, he says the coaching staff and his teammates share that same passion and focus.

“We have good coaches that know what they’re doing and a good team that’s invested into the program,” Bryan adds.

That shared investment paid off in a big way last season, when a win over Broken Arrow became a turning point for the team.

“It helped turn our season around,” Bryan says, calling it one of the most memorable moments of his football career so far.

The energy from that game gave the team momentum that carried them through the rest of the season. Now in his junior year, Bryan steps into his role at safety with more confidence and a greater understanding of the position.

“I feel like my knowledge for the spot has improved,” he says.

His development hasn’t just come from reps on the field; it’s also about his approach.

“I used to overthink things a lot,” he says. “Now I play with more confidence.”

Through consistent feedback from invested coaches and an attitude of resilience, Bryan has made it his mission to leave everything on the field. Preparation is both personal and collective. Tate gears up for game days with music, tuning in mentally on his own before locking in with the team. That balance helps him stay focused and ready, no matter what’s ahead. The Timberwolves’ strength lies in their unity and collective commitment to the game.

“We’re a close group and will keep it together,” Bryan says.

The unwavering bond and shared determination fuel the Timberwolves’ resilience, proving that teamwork goes beyond the scoreboard.

It is his hope to continue playing football at the collegiate level should he have the opportunity. For now, Tate Bryan is dedicated to developing as a player and a teammate, rising to every challenge the season may bring. Standing firm on the foundation forged by support of his mom and the Timberwolves around him, Bryan is poised to meet the future head-on.
