Q&A With Jones’ Hunter Purvis – Football Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst

Jones’ Hunter Purvis

VYPE: Hunter, what grade are you in this season and what position are you playing for the Longhorns?

Hunter Purvis: I’m a junior this year and I play wide receiver.

VYPE: Was there a former teammate who left an impression on you?

HP: Creighton Jones left a big impression on me because he took me under his wing when I was younger. He showed me how to carry myself on and off the field. Seeing how he led by example made me want to step into that.

VYPE: What grade did you start playing football?

HP: I first started playing football in 5th grade, and it was for my school team at Jones.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates this season?

HP: I love how close we all are with each other, and everyone has each other’s back, and we push each other every day to get better and better.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

HP: My coaches inspire me because of how much they invest in us as a player and as people. They care about who we become off the field. They believe in us and push us to be the best version of ourselves.

VYPE: What is your favorite subject, and do you have a favorite teacher?

HP: My favorite subject is history I enjoy learning about the past and what has happened leading up to now. My favorite teach was Coach Steverson he always made the class fun and interesting.

VYPE: What has helped you focus on the team this season?

HP: This year I took a step back from organized clubs at school and decided to focus on putting more energy into my underclass teammates. I really appreciated when the older guys guided and encouraged me as a freshman, and I hope that one day some of the younger guys can say the same about me

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

HP: I enjoy working out, spending time with friends and family, and being outdoors.

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?

HP: After graduating, I hope to play college football and study business entrepreneurship. But I know that God has a plan for my future, and I’m willing to follow the path he shows me. Whatever it may be!
