
Washington’s Cole Beard
VYPE: Cole, tell us what’s been the biggest surprise of your prep basketball career?
Cole Beard: I have had my ups and downs throughout my career, along with heartbreak. If I stay focused and confident, then can lead to greater things and being one of the starting 5 this year.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Washington?
CB: Everyone supports one another, and we push each other to be better every day. We always compete hard, but we also have each other’s backs.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
CB: My family. They have supported me through every high and low. They continue to push me to work harder and be the best that I can be out there on the court
VYPE: Favorite subject in school and favorite teacher from any grade?
CB: Spanish II with Coach Orr.
VYPE: Favorite moment from any season?
CB: Making it to the State tournament last season.
VYPE: What other clubs or groups do you belong to at school?
CB: I am involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
CB: Golfing and playing a golf game on my Oculus.
VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and which teammate keeps everyone laughing?
CB: Jace Myers is the most vocal and Owen McCalip is hilarious.
VYPE: What are you looking forward to the most this season, what’s the strength of your game and what have you worked on the most to improve?
CB: I am looking forward to competing with my teammates and see how far we go. I want this senior year to be memorable. My strength is defense. I think I am quick on my feet and love to push them around down low. I am working on improving my offense with ball handling and driving to the goal.
