9 Questions with Southmoore Soccer Player Janelle Fleischer – Presented by Eskridge Honda

VYPE: Janelle, what’s the biggest improvement to your game coming into the season?

Janelle Fleischer: The biggest improvement in my game has definitely been my strength. All the days in the weight room are finally paying off and my physical battles are becoming easier.

VYPE: What position are you playing?

JF: This season I don’t have a set position on the field, so I play where I’m needed. The most difficult part of this situation is having to switch my brain back and forth between an offensive and defensive mindset.

JF: What I love most about this team here at Southmoore, is our chemistry. Although we have a young team, our bond is so strong on and off the field.

VYPE: What is your favorite subject and who is your favorite teacher?

JF: Favorite subject in school is English because I love to talk, and it comes very easy to translate that into words. Favorite teacher was my first grade teacher, Mrs. Kniffen! She was always there for me when no one else was and I’m forever grateful for her support in my life.

VYPE: What other clubs or groups are you in at SHS and how do you enjoy spending your free time?

JF: I am apart of NHS, BSU, and the Superintendent Leadership Academy. In my free time, I usually spend it sleeping or reading!

VYPE: Tell us your favorite moment from any season.

VYPE: What has athletics taught you which you will use throughout your life?

JF: Athletics has taught me discipline, resilience, and accountability by showing me the importance of consistent effort even when progress is slow. It has helped me learn how to handle setbacks, accept feedback, and stay focused under pressure. These lessons will guide how I approach challenges, teamwork, and goals later in life.
