In every aspect of life, Adam King is inspired by Jesus. His character is defined by his faith, which shows in how he represents himself and his team on the soccer field.
“If Jesus can suffer a brutal death and mocking so that my sins can be forgiven, then I can certainly push harder for God and my teammates on the field and in practice so that we are better,” he says.
King is a senior at Christian Heritage Academy in Del City. Soccer has taught him many lessons. One is to move on from past mistakes.
“I don’t want to mess up in anything but failure is inevitable and what is more important is how I respond to that failure,” he said.
Soccer is a space where he can be free-minded and creative. King enjoys the freedom to use his creativity to make special plays on and off the ball.
His best friend and teammate, Brenton Burris, leaves a big impression. For years, they have pushed and supported each other to do and be more. King has done more, going from recreation leagues to playing higher levels of ECRL and FCL.
A physically painful game against Bristow became his best memory. With a broken wrist, a hurt knee and a sprained ankle, King lined up for a freekick 40-yards from the goal. He put his anger and frustration into the kick, then watched the ball go into the top left corner of the net.
“Hitting a 40-yard banger was definitely the highlight of my career and the adrenaline was like no other,” King exclaimed.
Faith, sports and family are major parts of King’s life but there is always room for dogs.
“I love dogs. My parents always make the joke that I have always interacted better with and loved dogs more than I do humans,” he laughs.
King has received interest from several colleges about playing soccer but has yet to decide if he will follow that path. His ultimate goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon. Studying biology at Oklahoma Christian University is the first step he plans to take to reach his goal.
